This month at Brick Farm sees us taking an aggressive approach to the clearance of the weed around the fishing platforms on Well Lake. The water is so clear and clean that in this recent warm weather it has almost been growing in front of our eyes!

Brick Farm Lakes is delighted to be included in Trout Fisherman magazine’s list of the Top 100 Stillwater’s in the British Isles.  An independent panel of judges inspected 540 trout fisheries in Britain and Ireland and chose waters they felt deserved this accolade based on several criteria. The full list will be published in the July issue.

Our new third lake is now fully open for fishing. It was officially opened and named Stag Lake by Mrs. Mary Carden, Secretary of the Eastbourne & District Fly Fishing Club (EDFFC).

This month, as we have a good crowd of novices and fist time visitors coming along, I thought I would try and give you an insight to some of the flies that work well here at Brick Farm Lakes.

Now we are into April we can all breathe a sigh of relief! The winter has passed and the daylight hours are gradually increasing once more. The lakes are well stocked and fully recovered from the horrendous conditions chucked at them at the beginning of 2014.

You are NEVER too old to try something new… with the right coaching you can achieve more in a shorter space of time than you realise… anything in the Great Outdoors is FUN and the sense of fulfilment and achievement you feel trying something new and doing well is worth a million.

The wonderful Well Lake has become even clearer and is providing brilliant conditions for winter fishing. At times it is even a little too brilliant and if ever there was a time for a six fish ticket  it is now, so go on treat yourself. It is full to the brim of pristine spring water and now filling our new third lake with the same!

Well there we have it folks! Another year has scuttled past as fast as a rat up a drain pipe along with it all its trials, tribulations and triumphs. Hopefully I find you all rested, invigorated and refreshed, ready and keen as mustard to begin another year of angling outings and adventures.

If ever there was a day for fishing a Muddler across the surface of Well Lake here at Brick Farm then Monday 27 October was it!

For those of you who fail to keep track of days and dates this was the day of “The Big Storm”. The day we were all told to stay indoors with a box of candles at the ready and not to put so much as a toe through the cat flap unless absolutely essential.

Over the winter months we are changing the way the fishing lodge is used. We will be providing self-service tea and coffee making facilities in the lodge and will no longer be serving food and drink from the bar.
