October 2011 fishing report
A glorious autumn is making conditions much better than during August and catch rates have been over 80% during the past couple of months with waters remaining clear. The leaves on the trees are turning a beautiful variety of autumnal colours and the varied wildlife, both on the ground and in the air, are on the move. With cooler water and a lower sun the fish are leaping about. Flies working include Buzzers, Cats Whiskers and Daddy Longlegs, weighted or on a sinking line.
Brick Farm Lakes now has a green oak framed fishing lodge café with large sundeck, ample parking, WC, bar and wood burning stove. We make crispy bacon butties, great coffee and home-made cakes. We also have home-made soup and other food such as a ploughman’s. If you would like to come as a group we can have breakfast ready, please call Sophie on the fishery number 01323 832615.
Recent rainbow catches include a 6lb 2oz by M Bondarin from Chichester on a Cats Whisker, a 4lb 8oz by Peter Inman from Uckfield on a Buzzer, a 4lb 8oz by Steve Richardson from Horsham, a 3lb 8oz by V Fisher from Rye on a Gold Head Daddy, a 4lb 9oz by Nikki Kane from Lewes on her first time fishing ever and a 3lb 7oz by S Gardiner from Herstmonceux on a Bodmin Beastie.
